Brand: Battlemaps.us
The map of the battlefield and battle of Antietam at Sharpsburg, Maryland, from 1862, was one of William H. Willcox’s crowning achievements. This particular map is doubly interesting, as it was found in the personal archive of Jedediah Hotchkiss at the time of his death in 1899. It also features an inscription in the lower left area, handwritten in ink: “Obtained from Washington & presented to Gen. R. E. Lee } by J. E. B. Stuart”. A must-have for any student of history of the American Civil War.
