One of Stephen F. Austin’s Earliest Maps of Texas An early-1820s map of the Province of Texas, drawn by Stephen F. Austin probably around 1822. The manuscript map was inscribed in Spanish, in pencil, ink and watercolor/gouache pigments on linen cloth. It is one of several manuscript maps drawn by Austin in the period 1822–1829, and a precursor to his milestone printed map of Texas published in 1830. The original manuscript is kept at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
