A spectacular, large-scale map of the Americas by Frederick de Wit from 1700. The map, entitled: Nova et Accurata Totius Americae Tabula emendata a F. de Wit (A New and Accurate Map of America amended by F. de Wit), is derived from a 1672 map by de Wit with the same name. The 1700-version contains insets of 18 views and plans of locales in the New World, as well as additions and revisions in accordance with the latest cartographic information at the turn of the 18th century. The cartouche in the lower left corner simply and fittingly states: “America.”
