A manuscript battle plan of the Battle of Bladensburg, with preceding and following troop movements, fought on 24 August, 1814, near Bladensburg, Maryland, just outside Washington, D.C. The battle was a part of the Chesapeake Campaign of the War of 1812, and was fought between Royal Marines led by Major General Robert Ross, and poorly-trained American militia, under Brigadier General William H. Winder. The conflict resulted in a swift and decisive British victory, and led to the devastating Burning of Washington.
